Dimes
When I moved into my current studio a new neighbor came by and introduced herself, she saw what it is that I do — and then presented me with these dimes that she found around the corner in the Gillette factory parking lot. Something weird happened to them to have this level of distress and discoloration.
When photographing unique objects sometimes the best thing you can do is get out of the way and just let them be what they are, although with these pictures I have persuaded more color out them than how they really appear. I didn't change the color, just brought out more, that was the fun part for me. I call the series FDR, it's Franklin Roosevelt looking to the left.
